Skype For Business Mac You%27re Not Configured To Connect To The Server

If you see a 'Sorry we couldn't connect to Skype', 'Skype can't connect' or 'Unable to receive notifications' message when you try to use Skype, the most likely cause is a poor internet connection, or no internet connection. Please contact your support team I'm trying to log in to skype for business on a mac and receive the error: 'You're not configured to connect to the server. Please contact your support team'.

autodetect was't working when i was connected on-prem... interestingly, it worked fine when i was external so i knew i had a shot... i've seen this issue mentioned in numerous other support forums

typical error message: You're not configured to connect to the server.

steps that worked for me:

Skype For Business Mac You're Not Configured To Connect To The Server Login

  • pull working Windows configs by CTRL+RightMouse on Skype tray icon > Configuration Information
  • based on educated guess i took the 'DG URL Internal/External' https: urls and plugged them into skype's [advanced options] page
  • also on windows, i also exported the certificate from the browser for the above server and imported it into mac's keychain
    • i exported the .p7b format INCLUDING the parent certificate chain
    • i imported as 'system' level
    • and made sure to TRUST it after it was imported (in mac KeyChain Access app, search by server name, right mouse on the entry > get info > trust)

If I am not wrong you are asking about 'Microsoft Lync Client' which works as Skype for Business.

Skype For Business Mac You're Not Configured To Connect To The Server Free

If I am correct then it means that your Lync Server is not published that's why you are using VPN to log-in into Skype for Business to do meetings.
Whereas I know to get rid from VPN, the one and only option is to publish your Microsoft Lync Client then you would have no need to be on your office network via VPN and you will be able to log-in into Skype for Business for any meeting. I am using that and working fine.
